June 21, 2006

Dear Bayview student,

Congratulations for accomplishing a successful school year.  Enclosed with this letter is your Semester 2 report.  Please check to ensure that the information is accurate and reflective of your achievement.  Should you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us or your teachers between 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays.

For students graduating, please be aware that your Commencement ceremonies will take place on October 5, 2006 at Langstaff Discovery Centre.  Please look forward to your invitation to the event, which will be mailed to you in September.

For new and returning students, please be aware that your registration for the 2006-2007 school year is scheduled as follows:

August 30th       10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

                                             6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

August 31st       10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

During that time, you will receive your timetable for the 2006-2007 school year and have your photo taken for the mandatory student ID card.  The expectation is that you will have an ID card as it allows you access to all Bayview activities and events such as borrowing library and resource materials, attending extra-curricular events (sports, dances, music concerts), purchasing bus passes at student rates etc. (additional cost may be applicable on some activities). The cost of the registration process is $35.00 which includes the ID card, Student Activity fee, and the School Council Family Fundraising fee.  Should you choose to purchase a yearbook ($40.00) or a student discount card ($8.00), you may do so at that time.

If you are a new student to Bayview, you and your parents/guardians are invited to the registration on August 30th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Our staff and representatives from School Council will be present to answer questions that you may have.

If you are unable to register at the above mentioned times, you will not receive your timetable until the first day of school.  Please check the alphabetical lists which will be posted outside the Main Office and Cafeteria identifying your homeroom where you will pick up your timetable.

During the summer months renovations and physical updates to the building will be in progress. Please be careful entering the school, particularly for those driving on the premises.  Please note that you can only enter from Cassatta Avenue and exit on to Bayview Avenue northbound.

The next school year promises to be filled with learning, challenges and excitement.  It is our hope that you have a safe and enjoyable summer.  Stay well and stay cool!!

Sincerely

Peter Tse,

Principal

Notice to Students, Parents and Guardians Regarding Immunization Record

Every student must have a complete immunization record on file with York Region Health Services in order to attend school.  York Region Health Services is required by the Immunization of School Pupil's Act RR.0 1999 Reg. 645 to ensure that each child attending school in York Region is fully immunized.

To fulfill this requirement:

In November, 2005, students whose immunization records are not complete will receive an Immunization Questionnaire asking for updated immunization information.  If the updated immunization information is not received by York Region Health Services by the date requested, school suspension orders will be issued.

The summer provides an opportunity o review your immunization records and update mandatory immunization as required.

This is also a reminder that Meningococcal C vaccine is now publicly funded for 15 to 19 year olds (those born in 1985 to 1990).  Please refer to the York region website www.york.ca for Meningitis C locations and dates.
